Airios is looking for a Software Development Group Leader to join our Research and Development (R&D) team and leading our software development in Veldhoven, The Netherlands.

Our team of 70 international professionals specializes in Research & Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Sales & Marketing. We foster an open, collaborative, and innovation-driven culture. Our current R&D team consists of 35 dedicated professionals focused on product development and design-in for and with our customers. The software development team consists of 24 software developers, with a focus on embedded software.

 

As a software development group leader, you will report to the CEO/CTO of Airios.

 

Your role:

As the Software Group Leader, you will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and coordinating our software development team. You will ensure smooth daily operations, oversee project execution, and drive continuous improvement in our software processes. Your leadership will help enhance the quality, efficiency, and innovation of our software solutions.

 

Your key responsibilities include:

 

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Serve as the people manager for the software engineering team.

  • Provide a clear vision and strategy for software development.

  • Lead daily operations, set priorities, and ensure on-time, high-quality deliveries.

  • Manage the team’s workload and ensure a healthy balance between productivity and job satisfaction.

Mentoring & Coaching

  • Support the technical and personal growth of team members.

  • Resolve challenges and help remove development obstacles.

  • Ensure transparent communication of team progress, challenges, and achievements.

 

Quality & Performance

  • Participate in scrum review meetings and ensure best practices are followed.

  • Work closely with project managers to align development efforts with business goals.

  • Continuously monitor and improve software quality.

  • Drive the further implementation of CI/CD (Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery) processes.

  • Promote the use of new technologies and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance development processes and tools.

What we're looking for:

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Group Leader who brings a strong technical background and leadership skills. The ideal candidate has:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.

  • 10+ years of experience in software product development, particularly in embedded and connected systems.

  • At least 3 years of experience in people management in Western Europe, with excellent leadership and communication skills.

  • A solid understanding of Agile methodologies and software development best practices.

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software development processes.

  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a passion for driving innovation.

  • A collaborative approach, always seeking ways to improve product quality and processes.

  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Dutch is a plus.
